Julia Bernd lives in San Francisco and is employed as a peace activist, though she's originally from the Midwest. She currently edits for Night Train and GUD Magazine and was formerly at NFG Magazine. (GUD stands for Greatest Uncommon Denominator. NFG... Nope, still not telling.) She likes to garden in her spare time; when your workday goal is world peace, a few months to grow a tomato seems like immediate gratification. In her unspare time, she reads novels of dubious cultural value. She managed to finagle an MA in Linguistics before having a falling-out with Academia, and is the only Night Train staffer to have been published in the Proceedings of the Austronesian Formal Linguistics Association.
