Night Train needs you! Help! Since the announcement of our Fall 2002 debut, Night Train has been flooded with submissions. This is extremely exciting, but can be quite daunting. We are looking for a few well-read, articulate and team-oriented hard workers who will have the opportunity to be the first readers of a given submission. You will need to have a solid understanding of what makes a story a story (at least in the context of our aesthetic). Although this is an unpaid gig, you will receive written credit in those issues for which you've contributed your expertise and a complimentary subscription to Night Train for the duration of your tenure. We are talking perks. And, think of the fun you'll have and experience you'll gain from helping with the launch of what we hope will be a highly respected print publication. If that's not enough of an enticement, you'll get to meet and work with Rod and Rusty, who will certainly keep you highly entertained. This is an awesome responsibility, so before we give you the keys to the kingdom, you must first demonstrate to us why you're qualified. Still interested? Here's what to do: Send an email to Editors at Night Train and answer the following questions--What do you look for in a good story? What kind of stories do you like to read and why? Who are your favorite short story writers and why? What was the most recent book you read? What did you think of it? What experience do you have critiquing short fiction? Don't be afraid to add to this. As always, please tell us about you. We look forward to hearing from you. |
